He was killed for saying that the gods did not exist during a period of time when Athens was just invaded by the spartans. Did they have to kill him in order to bring order to chaos as the people would believe that if everyone started to think the gods were not real then they would take vengeance upon them and deliver them into the hands of the spartans or were they wrong to kill someone just because they were more open minded then them?
