...there's no way to view the size of the Recycle Bin in Windows Vista, is there?

It's not that hard--it's just different. Double-Click on the Recycle Bin to see the files it contains. Press Ctrl-A to select all of the files. At the lower left corner you'll see the size of the (selected) file(s).
