I am finding it hard with partners son around?

i hve recently bought a house with my partner, we bough his ex wife out, his 14yr old now lives with us permanently but i am finding it extremely difficult, i have tried talking to my partner but he just says 'he's my blood, he comes with me' what am i meant to do?
